Gas & Electric Dryer Repair
Dryer not heating, clothes taking too long to dry, drum not spinning, making noise, or not starting? Smart Solutions provides gas and electric dryer diagnostics and repair in Los Angeles, South Bay, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Lomita, Palos Verdes, and nearby areas.
Common Dryer Problems
Dryer problems can involve the heating system, airflow path, drive components, motor, sensors, or controls. Proper diagnostics find the real cause before parts are ordered — saving time and preventing repeat failures.
We inspect the heating system, airflow path, exhaust vent, drive belt, drum rollers, idler pulley, blower wheel, motor, moisture sensor, and control board before recommending a repair. Gas dryer diagnostics include burner, igniter, gas valve coils, and flame sensor. You get a clear explanation and estimate before any work begins.

FAQ
On an electric dryer, the most common causes are a failed heating element, a blown thermal fuse, or a faulty thermostat. On a gas dryer, it's usually a failed igniter, a bad gas valve coil, or a flame sensor problem. Both types can also lose heat from a clogged vent blocking airflow — which also creates a fire risk if ignored.
Long drying times are most often a venting problem — lint accumulation in the duct, a crushed or kinked exhaust hose, or a blocked exterior vent cap. Other causes include a weak heating element, a partially failed gas valve, a clogged lint screen, a worn blower wheel, or a moisture sensor that's ending the cycle too early.
Squealing usually means worn drum glides, a dry drum bearing, or a failing idler pulley. Thumping or banging is typically worn drum support rollers. These issues get progressively worse — they can cause the belt to snap or the motor to overload if left unrepaired.
If the motor runs but the drum doesn't turn, the drive belt is usually broken. On some machines it could also be a failed motor coupling. Both are typically straightforward repairs.
Most dryer repairs are worth doing. A heating element, thermal fuse, drive belt, drum rollers, or idler pulley are cost-effective fixes on a machine in otherwise good condition. The service call diagnosis is the right first step — it tells you exactly what's wrong and what it will cost.
